At around 12:08 on Saturday September 09, 2006, SEA
EXPRESS I emerged from NSL Birkenhead #5 dry dock ready to take up
service to replace the ailing SUPERSEACAT TWO, whose reduced speed
has resulted in the need for a revised timetable to operate through
the summer months. SEI is due to take up sailings from Monday
September 11. This will enable SUPERSEACAT TWO to be taken out of
service to await the return of her gearbox, currently away in
Germany. Which, it is rumoured, may take up to seven months to
repair! Given that SEI has a higher
wave height operating limit it is likely that her deployment will
mean more sailings will be able to operate during the autumn /
winter. SEI has been on the broker's sales lists for some time, it
is perhaps fortunate that she wasn't sold, otherwise there would be
few alternative vessels available. |

passed New Brighton bound for Douglas. |
